Treasury Confirms Full Disbursement of Capitation Funds to Public Schools

    The National Treasury has officially confirmed that it has completed the full disbursement of capitation funds to all public schools across Kenya, ahead of the second term of the 2025 academic calendar.  This announcement brings a measure of relief to school administrators and education stakeholders who have previously raised concerns over delayed or inadequate funding. According to the statement released by the Treasury, a total of Ksh 31.34 billion has been disbursed, covering both primary and secondary institutions. TSC New method of Replacing teachers exiting service

TSC Teacher Replacement 2024, The Teachers Service Commission is set to replace all those teachers who have exited the service through Natural Attrition.

TSC chairperson Jamleck Muturi has declared that there are available vacancies set to be advertised for those teachers who have exited the service.

Dr. Jamleck Muturi has mentioned while at Tambachi Teachers College in Elgeyo Marakwet County that the commission will consider those areas which have a shortage of teachers during the recruitment process.

He stated that the government is working on a program to increase the number of teachers in all public institutions.

Deficit Of Teachers In Schools

“Nationally we have a deficit of about 100,000 teachers, but the government is always giving us the opportunity to recruit 5,000 teachers every year,” he said.

Dr. Muturi told the education stakeholders while addressing them at Elgeyo Marakwet County to work together to achieve high standards of education in the county.

He noted that the education stakeholders are key in ensuring quality education for Learners.

He also added that the commission is working on a modality of providing conducive working environment for all teachers in the country.

Dr. Muturi has encouraged the newly graduated teachers to apply for the jobs as the commission is recruiting teachers across the country currently.

Owing to the fact that junior secondary school JSS has an alarming deficit of teachers, the commission is in the verge of filling the gap.

Currently, the commission is recruiting all the primary school teachers who have met the set criteria into junior secondary school to bridge the gap.

The commission has set the various qualifications for these teachers which will be considered before recruitment and deployment of teachers to various institutions.

Qualifications For Deployment to JSS

The set qualifications include;

  • Minimum of C plain mean grade in KCSE
  • Minimum of C+ in 2 teaching subjects
  • Minimum of diploma or degree in education.

Those who have met the above qualifications, are encouraged to apply for the vacant positions as the commission extended the deadline for the application.
