Treasury Confirms Full Disbursement of Capitation Funds to Public Schools

    The National Treasury has officially confirmed that it has completed the full disbursement of capitation funds to all public schools across Kenya, ahead of the second term of the 2025 academic calendar.  This announcement brings a measure of relief to school administrators and education stakeholders who have previously raised concerns over delayed or inadequate funding. According to the statement released by the Treasury, a total of Ksh 31.34 billion has been disbursed, covering both primary and secondary institutions. Of this, Ksh 4.74 billion was allocated to public primary schools, while Ksh 26.6 billion was directed to public secondary schools under the Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE) program.  These funds are crucial in supporting various operational needs including textbooks, laboratory equipment, examinations, and utilities. TSC July Mass Recruitment 2024

TSC July Mass Recruitment 2024, Beginning in 2024, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) intends to remove places for the Primary Teachers Certificate Training (PTE).

This is also referred to as the P1 certificate, from Employment. Its examination of the laws governing the teaching profession includes this.

Diverse responses have been generated by the aforementioned idea among education sector.

The TSC reports that a diploma will now be the minimal prerequisite for admission to teacher training programs.

Furthermore, according to TSC, candidates for teaching positions should have earned at least a C- in English. In addition, a D+ in mathematics, for a minimum overall grade of C.

TSC currently plans to confer with the Ministry of Education before bringing these suggested modifications before parliament.

Teachers Who Will Miss July TSC Recruitment

The commission which employs the Teachers cites suggestions from the presidential working party on education changes.

This is as well as constitutional measures to support these reforms.

The commission has stated that going forward, it will give preference to employing teachers with degrees over those with certificates in elementary education.

It is recommended that teachers who already hold PTE certificates graduate to a diploma in order to comply with the Competency-Based Curriculum standards (CBC).

According to the commission, a diploma in education serves as the prerequisite for those wishing to enter the teaching profession.

Additionally, TSC permits post-training certification upgrades for those who have finished ECDE, PTE, DTE, BED, DIP ED, and SNE programs.

All of the teachers who meet the requirements outlined in TSC’s new proposal will be qualified to instruct students in grades 1 through 3 and grades 4 through 6.

TSC Details On July Salaries

Several TSC teachers will be evaluated for phase 2 wage increments or payrises across various job groups in approximately three months. This is in line with the CBA agreement, which saw the union leaders and the  teachers’ employer  work together to increase salaries in two stages. But some teachers might not be included in the 2024 increment phase if they weren’t employed when the first phase was put into place by July 2023. The CBA will be fully implemented in July 2024, with the first phase going into force in July 2023 and continuing until now.
