Treasury Confirms Full Disbursement of Capitation Funds to Public Schools

    The National Treasury has officially confirmed that it has completed the full disbursement of capitation funds to all public schools across Kenya, ahead of the second term of the 2025 academic calendar.  This announcement brings a measure of relief to school administrators and education stakeholders who have previously raised concerns over delayed or inadequate funding. According to the statement released by the Treasury, a total of Ksh 31.34 billion has been disbursed, covering both primary and secondary institutions. Of this, Ksh 4.74 billion was allocated to public primary schools, while Ksh 26.6 billion was directed to public secondary schools under the Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE) program.  These funds are crucial in supporting various operational needs including textbooks, laboratory equipment, examinations, and utilities. List of TSC Job Groups not included in the July  salary increase. The  first phase of TSC  teachers' salary increases has come into  force. Teachers are already looking forward to  the salary increase in July. However, not all  teachers will benefit from this change.  Some will  go home with nothing.  Many teachers from  various professional backgrounds are  excited. They will benefit financially from the  promotion, thanks to the recently concluded collective bargaining agreement. 

 The first CBA was signed by the  Board of Trustees and the Kenya National  Teachers Union. It has  since been fully  implemented and  teachers' salaries have  been increased. 

 On the other hand,  some unions  still sign the  CBA. including 

 

  •  Kenya  Union of  Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) 
  •  Kenya  Association of  Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET) 

 A new salary review was conducted.  Some work groups  have since been excluded from this increase and did not receive  an increase. Special positions for salary increases include C4, C5, D4 and D5. 

  Salaries for teachers  at C4 and C5  levels remained unchanged at  SH52,308 and  SH62,272 respectively. 

  Earnings from jobs at D4 and D5 levels remained unchanged at Sh114, Sh242 and Sh131, Sh380 respectively. TSC fees will increase for all working groups. The winner of the first level of the currently valid promotion is Level D1. They can get Ksh. 785 salary increase for income. 

 Ksh. The salary of B5 employees will be increased by RMB 2,074. Their annual income ranges from Sh21,756 to Sh23,830. 

 The  salary of  C1 level teachers will increase from Sh2,592. Their income will increase from Sh27,195 to Sh29,797. 

 In addition, the  salaries of  C2 staff will be  increased. They will also receive a salary increase of  Sh3,331. 

 However,  those in the D1  category will see an increase of  Sh785. 

 D2 TSC teachers' salaries will increase  by Sh1,455. Their income will now  be Ksh 92,496 instead of  Ksh 91,041. Additionally, the salary of D3 teachers will  increase by Sh1,399, increasing their salaries from Sh104,644 to Sh106,043. 

 Finally, C3 teachers now earn a  minimum salary of  Sh45,671 compared to the previous salary of Sh43,154.
