Treasury Confirms Full Disbursement of Capitation Funds to Public Schools

    The National Treasury has officially confirmed that it has completed the full disbursement of capitation funds to all public schools across Kenya, ahead of the second term of the 2025 academic calendar.  This announcement brings a measure of relief to school administrators and education stakeholders who have previously raised concerns over delayed or inadequate funding. According to the statement released by the Treasury, a total of Ksh 31.34 billion has been disbursed, covering both primary and secondary institutions. Of this, Ksh 4.74 billion was allocated to public primary schools, while Ksh 26.6 billion was directed to public secondary schools under the Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE) program.  These funds are crucial in supporting various operational needs including textbooks, laboratory equipment, examinations, and utilities. KCSE Students with a D+ or higher receive a 10-hour notice from KUCCPS.
According to an announcement by the Kenya Universities Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Thursday, April 25, students wishing to enroll in higher education courses have been given 10 hours.   

KUCCPS said the  agency will close its application portal this afternoon.   Students who completed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) between 2000 and 2023 will be affected.   

“Students who have been notified that they are unable to enroll in a previously selected course may visit student.kuccps.net to select a course that is currently available,” KUCCPS said.   

Students were instructed not to reapply if they had already been selected.   The opportunity to apply for a variety of diploma and certificate programs offered by accredited colleges, polytechnics, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions will be available to students who received a grade of D+ or higher.   

To apply for degree courses, a student must have a grade of C+ or higher.   KUCCPS instructs that in order to apply for a second revision, you must enter your whole KCSE Index Number in the designated space on the Login page without the slash (/).   It is also recommended that students set their password to either their Birth Certificate Number or KCPE Index Number.   

“If a course is not listed on the portal, it is not available for application at this time,” KUCCPS said, mentioning that it was already full when it was first opened for applications.   In addition, KUCCPS provides a small number of Artisan Certificate Programs to students who did not receive a D+ on their KCSE exam.   

By logging into the portal, students who were successful in getting into the courses of their choosing during the first revision can verify.

TSC July Mass Recruitment 2024, Beginning in 2024, the   Teachers Service Commission   (TSC) intends to remove places for the Primary Teachers Certificate Training (PTE). TSC relocates secondary school principals in Murang'a.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred the principals of Murang'a Secondary School ahead of the start of the second term  next  week.   Some of the  assistant principals  received promotions from the  teachers' employers.   Andrew Maina,  long-time principal  at Ichagaki Mixed Secondary School, has replaced John Mwangi at  PC Secondary School.    Maina expressed  gratitude for  leading the development of Ichagaki High School for 15  years.   “I am  leaving Ichagaki Mixed School with 660 students,  but 16 years ago I only found  66,” he  said.
